Different Kinds of Faith
Hebrews 11:1-6
Introduction:
A. Hebrews 11 is known the “Hall of Fame of Faith” and
“Heroes of the Faith” chapter
B. Outline of Hebrews 11:
1. Nature of faith (v. 1-2)
2. Knowledge of faith (v. 3)
3. Worship faith (Abel)
4. Translation of faith (Enoch)
5. Precious faith (v. 6)
6. Testimony of faith
7. Obedient faith
8. Choice of faith
9. Sufferings of faith (v. 36-38)
C. Hebrews 11:1 gives us the definition of faith:
1. Seeing the invisible
2. Believing the incredible
3. Hearing the inaudible
4. Doing the impossible
I. Saving Faith: define salvation/being saved- deliverance
(Eph. 2:8; Acts 16:31)
A. Who do we put our faith in?
1. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
2. Jesus Christ is the object of our faith
B. Faith is trusting Him
C. Salvation faith is not about feelings or emotions
D. Here are the facts according to Romans 10:9-10
1. Jesus died and bore our sins in His own body
2. Jesus was buried for 3 days in a borrowed tomb
3. Jesus rose again
II. Working Faith (James 2:18, 20)
A. The meaning of faith and works
1. Salvation is always faith in Christ
2. After salvation there must be:
a. Acting faith
b. Showing faith
c. Working out our faith
B. Working faith shows that you are alive in Jesus
1. Faith in Christ gets you to heaven
2. Faith and works in Christ gets you the rewards in heaven
III. Trying Faith (I Peter 1:7; James 1:3)
A. Notice the heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11:36-37
B. Why does God try our faith?
